Double-Boiled Pear with Fritillariae

After a stressful cake yesterday...... I need something to 'yun' back! hahahaha

The above chinese word means "pear"

Ingredients
1 pear (wash, cut top, cored)
1 T pei pa gou (Fritillariae syrup)
2 rock sugar (1cm each)
water

mix everything, use fruit baller to ball the pear out, ( or just cut into cubes) then double-boiled for 30 minutes!
Serve hot, eat the soup and finish the fruit!

good for "heat cough" not "cold cough", cold cough, do not eat this, u will get more serious.

The flesh of the pear are so nice after boiled!!! warm, soft & tender. the Sryup are very refreshing & minty !!! instantly cool-down my temper! Yes, I was angry with my camera card!!! " Memory card not initialized" I am so not happy! must get Dad to help when he's back. so Back to my mini cam. I love my mini cam, My mini cam gives good macro shot!

I got the recipe from the above book. A good guide. What attracts me the most are their photos in the book. All dslr photos, like u can tell is from Nikon D80 (ok I'm just being smart ass here! hhahaha, D80 is my Soul!!). U can really differenciate pictures taken from using Canon & Nikon ! I vote for Nikon ! but somemore, I still attach with Fujifilm, bcuz of my dad! (",)

Notes: (8 Sept 08)
see !! I just make a guess on what camera model he/she using..based on a pic... I 'm right again! it's Nikon D80 ! see .. ppl can really tell what u're using.....see this Rosemary & Garlic Focaccia

Qing Bu Liang

oh my...my , u always can find this sweet soup in my house. I cook this mostly once a week! my mum very happy when I cook this! and Dad will be happy if I cook "Fu zuk Bak Guo" Tong Sui. But I m quite lazy , need to crack and peel the gingo nuts is just tedious for working group ppl ;D what an excuse.

When I was small (6-10 yrs) , mum only cook this occasionally, like once a month? and we all get so excited!! we all want hard boiled egg, than just make flower-egg into the sweet soup. Early times, we used to boil quail eggs, which taste tastier...( Oh well, dont mention on the Carlos)

To make a Qing Bu Liang is always as easy as ABC. :0 Buy the ready package from the chinese herb stall, then throw in everything in a plain water + rock sugar, boil for 2 hours.

Normally I will add additional longan / sweet apricot kernels (南杏仁) . I am addicted to this sweet apricot kernels. I can eat it raw as it is too.

An easy nourishing soup. NEXT I want to make herbal Egg soup! (Dan-Cha) ( not char-yeh-dan)! :D~~~~

Snow Fungus & Papaya Sweet Soup

Lately I need some sweet soup to ' yoon' hah ! Quite 'Chou" lately! ;D
I love this sweet soup. I always get this from Mei Xin, Citymall. However, like most of the restaurant/outlets in kk, they never maintain their Quality + Standard! This Mei Xin ah, Hawlo, if you are the boss of this shop, please listen! ur staffs only make quality stuffs when u are around. When You are not around, everything in the stall is yucks! Like we say, cat s away, mice playing games!

Ingredients
Snow Fungus, 20 gram (or 1 flower)
Red Dates, 6 stoned
1 T + 1t Southern-ALmond. (nan-xing)
1 medium - small Ripe papaya
Rock sugar, 50 grams ( or estimated)
1 litre water

Method
1. Soak the dry snow fungus until soft. Break into small pieces.
2. Cut the papaya into cutes, de-stoned the red dates and wash the almonds.
3. Pour 1 litre of boiling water into slow cooker or any simmer pot, throw everything inside, and simmer for two hours.
4. Serve the sweet dessert with ingredients.

note: Not advise to boil this soup like how u cook ur soup, as later, all the papaya will turn into mash. ;D that's why, simmer it.

I like to drink this when it's boiling hot until lips burnt. Hot papaya soup! :D

I search from Wikipedia for a while... ha! I should have boil this AGES ago!!!! bcuz it can remove phlegm!!! Hate it!!! I have bad coughing since LAST MONTH =p hahahah, now much better already la...

History from Wikipedia
The fruit can act as a remedy for sun stroke, wet the lungs, remove phlegm, stop cough and aid constipation.

Recent research on luohan guo suggests that the mogroside works as an antioxidant and that it helps to prevent cancer.

The use of luohan guo as a remedy for diabetes and overweight has been mentioned, as it can be used as a substitute for sugar.

Method
1 Monk's fruit
1.8 litre water

( the followings are OPTIONAL ITEMS)
some dried longan
1 large soaked white fungus
dried winter melon sticks
some rock sugars

A. Clean & Crack the fruit, break into pieces & put into the water.
B. Put everything & boil for 1.5 hours.
