Nice Talk

Ha, Thanks to T, for inviting us to such a very meaningful event ! We had discussion on Healthy Meal budget, and some cooking tips! The skyline ladies are very friendly & "warm" .


I m quite shocked with the Recycle oil at RM 2 sold to many restaurants (mamak store i m not surprised, but Restaurant?) ( and when U hint on tat restaurant where u had ur taro, I think I m able to guess out which one) and cook for the customers! Is not surprise if You're telling me restaurants using cheap oil / reuse the oil again and again, but recyle oil from fast food outlet ? I feel eeyew! to that extend I did not follow my parents eat out during sunday for that week!!( Effective huH! ha ha) I rather cook maggie at home.

We learned tips on cooking men tiao demo by Terri. err, I dont have to share the jokes here right? do I ? is about the burner..? ( Shhhss!)

I enjoyed listening to Terri as when she mentioned food like Cai Fan, I feel like I m a well-prepared student in the class! bcuz I cooked that recipe before! and I like it ! and When we were given Butter cake & Pandan chiffon cake for tea break, I m even thrill!! bcuz I baked that before too ! and Men tiao ! Was one of the food that I wanted to cook for long, but always can't get a better idea on how to "cut the noddle"... but now, seeing live-demo, I should be able to catch some tips.


and ! for those who r on budget or dont even own a egg-beater machine, see this! beat the egg whites just using Whisks ! it gives almost the same results = stiff ! To test the stiffness... Lift up your bowl! like how Terri did, it wont fall though~

Happy Birthday To Creamy

First of all, Happy Birthday to my Big Creamy ! she is... panda lah in short;p I cannot resists from not posting our picture 2 years ago. Panda used to have curly bomb hair! While I m with my long hair. Time flies so fast!! and when I look at our Rumba picture taken in 2008! I was like, isnt it that picture we just took 2 weeks ago only ? argh!

Last year we pig-out at Rumba, Le Meridien
for creamy birthday celebration. This year! we went to Man Tian Xia at Api-Api Centre ( located at the back of MAA building) .


We had mixed roast , vege & pork with salted fish.
The place is very clean & I guess the price is quite reasonable too.

We still need to find place to kill our sweet tooth! We met up with creamy's parents at Mosaic. ( ah! another post on Mosaic newly launched stone grill menu)

I had this, thinking of kill 2 birds with 1 stone! I can have my coffee+ ice cream at the same time! very nice ice latte with vanilla ice cream

I had an order from baker , mango cake ! special request on top filled with mango cubes in heart shape.


Then I made a card for creamy panda!

Random Cakes photo


I didn't do much baking/ cooking lately. To avoid seeing chicken-feet (previous post) showing up on the 1st paragraph ;p I almost forgot I kept these photo with me long ago!

There are cakes from sweet daily again. ha ha. I still like their cakes! Being "good-looking" cakes and I feel so happy whenever it's on my plate! I like to see all kind of beautiful things, dont you ?
This Sweet-potato mousse cake is something light, with a mixture of grated sweet potato in the cream.
Chocolate layer! I like the topping! needless to say, a very rich choco.

Lamb Shepherd Pie


Lamb Shepherd Pie.

Story begins like this. I wanted to make Beef burger, so I get sis to buy some minced beef from Consfood. When she got home, she brought me a 700g of minced Lamb at RM 17.90 !!!! so expensive ! I 'm like...errr why lamb ? ( sis said: because beef out of stock) what can I do with lamb ? ok deal, I decided to make Lamb-burger then.
How funny, I cant get a good Burger Bun with a dome shape and in cocoa brown colour ! we can't find it, other than those 6 or 4 normal sweet bun packed in a bag sell in bakery shop, which I hate. Can't find good bun = no good burger~!

Lastly, I used Terri's A Very Very Good Cottage Pie recipe. She put double "very" to describe the food, while I give this recipe tripe "very" good !
Very satisfied with the pie. One thing I like about this is the meat filling not much of cheap mixed vege like peas/carrots which sort of distracted from enjoying my steak-pie. Lols


I steamed the potatoes for 20 minutes. Steaming will retain its nutrition ?


I guess this recipe gives a good bolognese sauce too.

Butter Chocolate Chips Cupcake


I heart cupcakes, all cakes.
I want to share some bored stories here.
Two years back when I just started my blog, every Saturday & Sunday I will be do all baking, cooking. And my mum will be like " Again, dont waste $ and time on baking lah " and my sis will be like ee I dont like all the cakes .No one support me, being busy in the kitchen !
Two weeks back, my 2 sis says, ... Ah Tng, my friends want to order the cheese cake lah .. my secretary says the cake is nice .etc etc..
Tonite, when I baked these cupcake, I was searching my muffin tin ! ( my kitchen very messy, things all around) my mum actually helped me to find where's the baking tin during her cooking hours !! Mum never grummy anymore when I bake during her dinner hours ...I mean I occupied her kitchen for baking during her time.
After baked, mum says Tomolo I will take some for sis to school. I feel happy, because no more complaints from them !

Recipe
Cake flour 150g
Baking power 1/2 t
Butter 150g
sugar 150g ( reduced to 120g)
Egg 3 nos.
milk 60g
Grated lemon skins
chocolate chips 60g

Steps
1. Preheat oven at 175C
2. Cream butter + sugar until fluffy, pale.
3. Add in Egg 1-by-1 at each time.
4. Stir in grated lemon skins and flour+baking power + milk.
5. Mix well until just incorporated. Dont overmix.
6. Fold in chocolate chips & scoop into cupcake paper mold.
7. Bake at 175C for 15-18 mins.

Cake-texture of cupcake. Good for party!

Sweet Daily


I have 'hope' with Sweet Daily after gulp down his Tiramisu! nice, very creamy smooth, soft moist cake. U would not feel like eating "cream+gelatin" , as I always had in most bakery & cafes, a cheap way to replace cheese ?
Their motto is :Transfat zero Bakery: No margarine, no shortening, no mass product, 100% butter & belgium Chocolate, Less sugar" Impressive for commercial bakery shop !
This mini slice of Tiramisu is at RM 7 . Quite pricely , but we called it " u paid what you get", and is worth it !

I think this bakery specialise in Cheese, Choco & butter cake only. no fancy cakes like greentea with red bean ( argh my fav ok!) , no strawberry shortcake ( argh again my fav!) , no cocktail / mango cake (argh, my fav).
They are giving baking classes too! I have to take leaves to attend their classes I guess!
